no particular reason, just that me and a bunch of frens, we're clearing our leaves, and we thought, hey its been such a long time since we've gone back for a visit, why not?
for me, its been almost 2 years........
the so-called theme was, back to school, and initially everyone agreed to bring a bag...
i brought mine.. even slotted in 2 books of lecture notes on aircraft systems. act student must act to the end ma! heh.
kelvin... he brought NOTHING. bastard!
bingting.. brought a bag. small sling bag. still okay.
EK.. brought a bag. inside nothing but a CAMERA -_-
jason... came from camp -_- brought NOTHING!
so i'm the only idiot who tries to relieve the old school days as accurately and as faithfully as possible... and those idiots!
LOLOLOL.
it feels good to alight from Dover.. walk down.. and wait for everyone at The Bridge.
i remember very fondly everyone, before going for lessons, will surely wait for everyone else on the bridge. there, we will stand around, talk cock, gossip, look at girls, check if you brought a certain assignment, share exam tips, discuss where to go after lectures. there's nothing you can't do there..
this time round however, as it is the exam period, it was relatively quiet and empty. everyone is either hard studying in the library or taking their paper.
we walked in and decided to check out the foodcourts.. foodcourt 4 first. passed by the new Student Service Centre... looks good. wth the old one was at the rock-climbing wall and it suckssss now it looks so good.
everything looks so good now.
decided to proceed to foodcourt 6 instead.. the holy grail of all foodcourts.
why?
because its located in the School of Business :D
it was a FAIL decision cuz none of the stalls (okay maybe for the drinks stall) were open and THERE WASN'T ANY CROWD INSIDE.
this SP trip wasn't very exciting or anything cuz we were planning to crash lectures.... but then again its the exam period so can't really do anything about it.
oh. foodcourt 5 is now air-conditioned. and looks so good. fuckin hell.....

anyway.
mini's birthday was on last sunday! we had a celebration for him on saturday. we went to play GO KART! miniwong, me, kelvin, jason, salty and bingting!
okay, the go-karts there are NOTHING like the toy ones you drove in the Escape Theme Park. they are much faster, much more thrilling and much more tiring to drive them.. lol!
i can practically feel the g-force when i floored the pedal. despite having only 6.5 horsepower (a normal motorcycle, 125CC, has about 11-12 horsepower) you definitely can feel the speed yo!
well but then... the weather wasn't too forgiving on us. the track is at Arena Country Club (very near to my camp!) and the timing for walk-in customers are from 12-2pm, 5-7pm. other timings are reserved for professionals to use the circuit to practice and so on. however they will try to squeeze in slots for us as each race lasts only for about 10mins.
thats right... i paid $35 for 10mins of thrill. absolutely worth every cent of my money.
although....... we waited for a LONG time. we reached at 1.45pm. decided to go for lunch. went back at 2.20pm. have to wait for the professionals to finish their training and roundings. when FINALLY it was our turn....
it began to rain =(
and so the conclusion? MINI HAS 2 CURSES ON HIM NOW. either when we go out there'll be no contact/encounters/luck with girls OR the weather will just simply pour on us.
rain stopped after about an hour. by this time it was reaching 4pm. they let one of the professional drivers to test the circuit for us.
so they changed their karts (fucking fast, one of them was about 30horsepower, can reach speeds of like 100km/h and more?!) tires to wet-weather ones.
even when the tires were wet-weather ones, he struggled on the tracks. he even spun out a couple of times. well... our karts were fitted with SLICKS... meaning they are strictly meant for DRY conditions............ =(
we waited for like another 20,30mins before we decided, enough is enough, FUCK IT MAN. i was in the first kart.. the guy started my engine by giving it a tug.. i made my way slowly out.... once out of the "pit", i floored the pedal.... okay it IS powerful.. gave the brake a lil prod.. rear wheels skid.. apparently the brakes are applied to only the rear wheels.. approaching a turn... release accelerator.. brake.. step on accelerator... *engine goes silent*
wait a minute. this engine stalled on me?!
okay so being the ever courteous driver i let the kart rolled to the side of the track and signalled for the guy to come over to start my engine again =( and i watched everyone whizzed by.... mini giving me the HAHA SUCKER look....
and thats how i became the last guy. HAHA. no the race is not over yet! after some spin-outs i began to get the feel of the kart. drifting is damn easy but its easy to spin-out too! once i stepped on the brakes too hard and my kart came to rest just beside the patch of grass hahahaha.
well, guess that's the nearest F1 experience.
$35 man. ain't cheap, but was worth it.
went to jason's house to wash up after that. booked tickets for this Merantau Warrior or something. some show that showcases Silat, a form of Malay martial arts. the movie was alright, fighting scenes were good, but well... not that you will wanna spend 10bucks to watch it on a weekend?
[sorrrleee ah no pictures everyone was racing plus no one brought a camera so....... heh...]
anyway on friday i met up with pris to hang out and chill out at town. went to cine in hopes of playing Guitar Hero there. but SO SUAY. we were put on the waiting list cuz some other group of ppl are using the guitar controllers. and apparently i think there're only like 2 or 3 controllers? fuck! and just before they were about to return the bloody guitar controllers they came over and.... EXTEND THEIR BLOODY TIMING.
owned.
well what can we do.. booked a xbox machine.. went to play Halo.. 2 n00bs who'd never played before Halo.... spend the first like 15mins exploring controls and the environment rofl.
caught Paranormal Activity later. unfortunately my ass of a friend blurted out the ending to me so it kinda spoiled it for me but still.. i've to admit its kinda creepy. not so much of a scare. CREEPY. never know whats gonna happen. but still.. BORING. we were both scared the shit out of ourselves towards the ending though... HAHAHA.
and so another weekend passed. another weekend nearer to the next payday.
ANOTHER WEEKEND NEARER TO ORD!
whatever. just can't wait for Jan 2010 to come.
gotta start the 9months counting down.
:D

Nick, a high-school senior from Hoboken, can't stop obsessing about Tris, his cute, blond, conniving ex-girlfriend. Norah, also a senior and an acquaintance of Tris's, is dissed by Tris at a club in New York City, so to show she's cool and has a boyfriend, she goes up a stranger, whispers in his ear, and kisses him. It's Nick. Thus begins a night of fits and starts between Nick and Norah as they share a love of music, hunt for an elusive band scheduled to play somewhere that night, search for Norah's drunk friend Caroline - with the help of Nick's gay band mates, and keep running into Tris and Nora's sort-of boyfriend. Both Nick and Norah have to figure out what they want.
after watching this movie i felt happy. i have no idea why, perhaps its the vibe that it gives off, perhaps its the ending of the movie, perhaps its just the whole storyline that gives you a "good-feel" feeling. i wasn't feeling terribly miserable before, but i wasn't entirely happy too. its some sort of un-settleness (is there even such a word?!), some sort of emptiness all around.
but for the first time in probably a few months, i felt happy. just happy. =)
P.S: to all my friends OF COURSE I FEEL HAPPY WHEN I GO OUT WITH YOU ALL LAH its not that i don't feel happy when i hang out with you all.
err as for the entire movie. there're pretty much 2 options. 1) get it from the video store. 2) watch it online or download it?

I know you, who are you now?
Look into my eyes if you can’t remember
Do you remember? Oh
I can see, I can still find
you’re the only voice my heart can recognize
But I can’t hear you now, yeah
I’ll never be the same I’m caught inside
the memories of promises of yesterdays
and I belong to you
I just can’t walk away ‘cause after loving you
I can never be the same
And how can I pretend I never
knew you like it was all a dream? No
I know I’ll never forget the way I always felt
with you beside me, and how you loved me then, yeah
I’ll never be the same I’m caught inside
the memories of promises of yesterdays
and I belong to you
I just can’t walk away ‘cause after loving you
I can never be the same
You let me near, then I watched you disappear
You left this emptiness inside and I can’t turn back time
No! Stay! Nothing compares to you
nothing compares to you
I can’t let you go
can’t let you go
I can’t let go
I'll never be the same,
not after loving you,
not after loving you,
No
I’ll never be the same I’m caught inside
the memories of promises of yesterdays
and I belong to you
I just can’t walk away ‘cause after loving you
I can never be the same
I can never be the same
I will never be the same
Woah woah woah woah woah
I just can’t walk away
No I can’t walk away from you

me: erm, your puke stains? (he puked the weekend before and some of them got onto his shoes =/)
kelvin: and where do they come from?
me: err... your stomach?
kelvin: FUCK. me la!
me: so.. what's your point?!
kelvin: i puked/spit all this out right? then who's gonna clean for me?
me: ..... you?!
kelvin: YA LA. since you spit everything out already, you can't possibly take it all back right? what, you wanna lick all the puke off my shoes meh? you want me to do that? no way.. i'm gonna clean this mess myself. you understand what i mean? no one's gonna be cleaning all these mess for you. you yourself go clean up the mess fucker! already spit out liao so be it!
that kinda makes sense. for once, i've found kelvin's words blog-worthy. rofl.

so yesterday i went home with soe after we booked out.. just nice he finished his duty at the medical centre so met up with him. reached home. got a call from kelvin...
kelvin: EH WANNA GO TO THE F1 CONCERT? I GOT TICKETS FOR US LEH!!
me: wa zhun bo.. so up ah you?! who's coming?
kelvin: dunno leh, think i call xianwei they all lor..
anyway, not at liberty to say how kelvin got his tickets. let's just say, he got lucky.............. REAL LUCKY!
never mind, the rest of the day was epic. i mean, DAMN EPIC. i hurriedly went to shower and change. okay, its my first time attending a concert. really. school musicals and free concerts (Baybeats) don't really count? okay maybe Baybeats is. but still!
ITS A FUCKING FORMULA 1 RACE CONCERT PARTY MAN! the event of like, the century? okay maybe the event of the year lah.
we were late late muthafuckin late man. i left home at like 6 30pm? the gates were opened at 5pm, and the opening act, N.E.R.D, came on at around 6 45pm!! SHIAT lol at this moment pris must be cursing me for not taking any signatures from them, and sad to say....
we missed N.E.R.D performing. so. no pictures. videos. or whatsoever.
anyway i chioooong down from lakeside to dhoby ghaut to meet kelvin and salty (xianwei). these 2 goons finally arrived after like so damn long can. chiong for a quick bite at burger king's before we set off for... FORT CANNING PARK!
it was a LONG walk up. least for me it wasn't that tiring. those 2 asses kept swearing and complaining... INFANTRY TRAINED YO!
anyway finally we reached there.. the staffs gave us this fan and a flag. apparently the fan was damn useful cuz the whole place was hot hot HOT its like being in an oven.. i was wearing a tee inside with a shirt outside so it doesnt make things better....
when we first reached there we saw this stage, with Redbull logos and stuffs and... NO ONE?! no one on stage, no one at the bottom of the stage, not even stage helpers. so we thought, okay everyone must be like taking a break now. so we wandered around the area. Harry's was there to sell drinks and food. also, official merchandise booths selling both the performing acts' tees and F1 tees were set up.
as we walked further in, we heard the sound of thumping music.. well apparently we were kinda dumb. the actual main stage was further inside! haha. and the crowd was like.... woah. and we felt as if we stepped into mini-america; everywhere we looked, ANG-MOHs! GOODNESS =D
the stage was rather huge. haha. when we reached there, Simple Minds were performing. i've no idea who the hell they are, i've never heard of their music, but well the atmosphere was good, the vibe was there, so i kinda enjoyed myself.
then we wandered around.. before we saw.. salty's aunt! gee man we didn't know her aunt was so hip! best thing is. her aunt went to buy like a dozen cups of beers + house wine! and keep forcing us to drink.... =(( of course, i drank like sips and small gulps. i had to take pictures and videos! and someone's gotta take care of those 2 jackasses shld they get wasted.... hahahahaha!
next act after Simple Minds.. ZZ TOP!
but before that, Lindsay Lohan came on stage to make an appearance. apparently she was hosting the F1 Rocks Singapore TV show. NOW, none of us even knew that the concert is gonna be made into a freaking TV show? gee man. but you can't really see her lah. she came out wearing one helmet. hahaha funny. epic thing was, she was spending sometime on stage rehearsing and stuffs, some of the audience were tired of waiting and began to chant, ZZ TOP ZZ TOP. hahahaha really man, if i were her i'll be embarrassed.
so anyway, ZZ TOP! a 3 piece band, consisting of 2 guitarist dudes with really damn long beards and 1 drummer. cowboy old school rockers?
They even covered Hendrix's Foxy! okay i guess that's pretty much the only song that i can recognise from their performance...... lol?
by this time salty's aunt's bf had already disappeared into the crowd, in hopes of getting some moshing or hardcore dancing. he came back, sad face, disappointed. and bitched to us about how singapore is ALWAYS LIKE THAT ONE LEH. hahaaha hearing an angmoh trying to speak singlish is hilarious. funny fella!
apparently the girl behind us doesn't seem too happy..... =/
okay anyway, so after ZZ Top ended their performances, its time for the biggest act for the night..
NO DOUBT.
unfortunately all the pictures are too blurred to be seen as i was not standing close to the stage. front line was madness, if you ask me.
then, in the middle of their entire performance for the night, Gwen Stefani told the crowd that its very hot and she's sweating like mad. her make-up's gonna fall off. then she pointed to the crowd below and ask some 2,3 fans of hers to come up! OMG. 2 of them even had towels prepared and went to help her wipe her sweat off her face and body HAHAHA. okay, guess i was too engrossed in that to take any photos or videos.
and the crowd there was like....
No Doubt performed most of their famous songs like Bath Water, Hey Baby, Running, Underneath It All, Ex-girlfriend and of course... the one and only Don't Speak. man, what a night.
anyway, we went to the toilet (those makeshifts cubicle ones) to take a piss. was waiting in line for one of the cubicle and the dude inside came out. kelvin was starting to go in when this 2angmoh girls and guy cut into our line.
girl 1: `scuse me, can i please go in first? i mean well look i'm pregnant here ya' all see *points to stomach*.
guy: yeah don't be rude to the lady! she's got a baby! *points to stomach*
girl 2: *looks, smile and shrugs at us*.
so the 3 of us were like o_O then kelvin went something like, YEAHH MAN GO ON, YOU CAN HAVE IT FIRST.
wow. she must be at least 2 or 3 months pregnant and is still drinking alcohol. UP THERE!
well they took a pretty much time so i went to queue for another one. when i stepped out this blonde bombshell came in immediately and almost bumped into me (my guess is she was pretty urgent). i didn't see that coming man! haha kelvin and salty were like, wa eric, you shocked anot?
of course! shellshocked by that damn blonde bombshell!
well then again, what is a concert without pretty girls? after a couple of drinks, i guess thats what alcohol will do to you- boost your fucking morale and gives you the courage to approach.... some Heineken girls :D
CHOY i don't mean the 3 of us are the pretty ladies.
HAHA.
well apparently they go around the whole venue helping ppl to take polaroids and giving them as souvenirs. guess they sure do have a whole shitload of films man.
salty left at around 11 45 to meet his friends for drinks outside. me and kelvin stayed on as we wanted to catch No Doubt performing their smash hit, Don't Speak.
kelvin was pretty smashed though, he drank a tad too much house wine and beer (courtesy of salty's HIP aunt). okay, shall not shame him on my blog. =p gahahahah.
more photos on my facebook!!
anyway, below are the 4 videos i took while there.
Don't Speak.
Running.
Ex-Girlfriend.
Hey Baby.
once again, thanks kelvin!

WA PIANG. okay la, i'm mostly happy about this cuz going there means i'll probably get arrowed doing something. plus, i've heard from many ppl saying there's absolutely nothing there to do and the whole place's like crap? i don't mean the cities of course, i've been to brisbane, sydney, and melbourne when i was young.. FUCKING KICK ASS AWESOME ahahaa.
well the long weekend is over. i can't believe i watched 2 movies in a day with mini, kelvin and jason man. i mean thats like the ultimate gayest thing ever but mini that asswipe is leaving for brunei for training so well...
we caught "9" at Bugis's Illuma and "Inglorious Basterds" at jurong point. 9 was alright, but the cinema was FUCKING COLD i swore 3/4 through the movie i was shivering and my teeth were slightly clattering. Inglorious Basterds was nice though it was longer than i expected. the main villian, one Colonel Hans of the Nazi SS, appears creepingly scary and evil in the flick. nice acting! of course, Brad Pitt's accent was damn good man. i especially love how the film was accompained by the various types of music. some parts even got my heart thumping.
okay, its kelvin's birthday tml! haha. happy birthday jackass.
looking at the calender now, its still roughly another year more to ORD man. sigh. long long way. man, my life is in such a stalemate now i don't know what to do later.
OFF TML!

The Pierces- Go To Heaven.
Hey, C'mmon
And take off all the clothes
That you have worn
And make love to me
Until the sun, comes up
Or until we decide
We are done
Hold me
Until
All the prayers
That go to heaven
Get an answer
You are absurd
You say the cutest things
I've ever heard
I don't think that
I could take another word
Oh my head
Might explode
And I might have to
Go to heaven
Love me
Love me
Love me
No, I said
I do not think that
It's all in your head
But we may not find out
Until we're dead
Or until the
Earth explodes
And everybody
Goes to heaven
Ohhhhh…..
REBEL was screwed. i was all along in a sardine can for that part.. man that place could really double up as a sauna.
LUNAR...... chinese live band. my fren even though it was some Getai ROFL WTF LA.
and now i understand the concept behind "must open bottle!" yes kelvin, yes.
Sunday, September 13, 2009
nevertheless his hard work finally paid off. where most of us are already 3rd Sergeants by now, he finally got his first leadership rank after like, 1 year? good job jason!
so today afternoon me, mini, yan han, kai wen and yiling went for his commissioning parade at SAFTI MI. i must say, this is the first time i saw so MANY girls dressed up so nicely for a parade. i don't even see that much girls dressed much so nicely for my BMT parade, and for ASLC parade. but still. eye-candies. gahahahahahaha
pictures will be up soon! as soon as i can get hold of my sister's laptop... or get a freaking SD Card reader for my own computer. gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh argh.
oh look its 1.10am now. 13th Sept 2009. i've officially been in the SAF for 1 year.
one freaking year. time really files man. being a recruit just seemed like a few months back ago only.
this is the first post after my first book out from pulau tekong. Jaguar Company's Platoon 1, Section 3.
man. that island really brought back many many memories. i still have 2 notebooks in which i wrote about my life back then. one of them is compulsory to write as it acts as a journal, supposedly for us to "reflect" on our training.
the other is for writing at my own pace. there're a few entries which i wrote during my 6 days field camp, which proves to be the worst 6 days of my life. i shall type them out here.
Day 1
-8 km route march there. almost died on the way there. (yes i rmb this particular march, cuz the sun was blazing down on us plus the terrain was very uneven.)
-upon reaching, stood for about 15-20mins FBO (this was one stand i'll never forget. we just arrived but were not allowed to set down our field packs. the 15-20 mins lasted for what seemed like 5hours. the load on our back was very unbearable. you could see people fidgeting but trying to keep still if not we'll get more shit on us. never will i forget this.)
-all hell breaks loose now.
-given 10mins to pitch basha (basically, our tentages)
-of course, punishment again
-lessons
-at night, the first night i sleep without gortex jacket. freaking cold. (i absolutely cannot take cold weather =/)
Day 2
-lessons/trainings as usual
-rifle PT (physical training), then run around the compound. super shagged. (hell with morning PT, this could kill.)
-this is the day where it rained non-stop from Day 2 till Day 5.
-more punishments, of course.
-one asshole actually shat under a tree and didn't admit. as a result, all of us were punished in pumping position. (motherfucker didn't admit, we were treated to a treatment of push-ups and crunches. massive fuckings.)
-night time got walk. but halfway through it began raining super heavily..
-hence, sleeping with wet clothes + socks + boots..
Basically for Day 3 onwards our training got more intense, our fuckings increased, and of course our mind got more and more blank. pretty soon enough my uniforms smelt like the ammonia solution you have in your science chemistry lab. i swore it smelt EXACTLY like that, like your urine. no one bothered to complain, no one bothered to maintain cleanliness (what, come again?!), no one bothered to do anything.
Day 4 was shellscrape day. meaning we have to dig our own "graves". yes i cannot believed i dug from morning till evening. even then, it wasn't perfect. Day 5 was a surprise, cuz 10mins after we changed our uniforms, cleaned our rifles, we were treated to a mud bath.
technically by Day 3, 4 i observed something. most of us just sat down anywhere, anyhow. wherever we can find. no matter if its a puddle of mud, some squishy spot of grass, anywhere. and of course there'll be the soft SQUISSSSSSH sound once our butt comes into contact with the ground. disgusting huh.
Day 6 proves to be the best day of all, because by afternoon we were back in our camp. boy, i tell you, i never thought i would feel so emotional when i saw concrete buildings instead of trees. it feels so good to be back/near to civilisation where you can be assured that there's proper water for you to drink, proper resting areas, and most importantly, PROPER FOOD. not the shit-tasting combat rations we survived on for 6 days. that really made me take food not for granted.
BMT days were some of the best days of my life too. i found friendship (people like, Jit, my BMT Buddy, Kenny, Andy Low, Joel!), strength, and confidence. things i thought i could never do. most memorable was my 24km route march. the load was over-bearing. especially for the size of a guy like me, certainly that was an achievement. mind over body eric, mind over body. i passed out as a Private with pride. (although after the parade i went home and took a long 4 hours nap. my bed was the most beautiful thing that day.)
after that, i got posted to SISPEC's BSLC course as a SCT (Specialist Cadet Trainee). i was taught more advanced skills of an infantry section. Juilet Company, Platoon 2, Section 3.
there, life was slightly different cuz back in BMT, sleep wasn't what we were deprived off. our instructors made sure while we trained hard, we were also given sufficient rest. but here, if we could get 5hours of sleep, that was a good bonus. its mentally challenging as we would have lectures right after physical trainings, and no one was to sleep! unless you wanna book out on a saturday.
SISPEC was different in the sense that we were not treated like recruits. sure, we do get fuckings now and then but that's understandable since we tend to screw things up sometimes. there, i found friendship in Wei Chuan, Yong Lee, Jun hao!, Yu ze. especially Wei Chuan, always trying to guai lan and talk cock with me. haahaha.
life as a trainee might be damn tiring, but when you look back you realise how much fun you had with everyone. because everyone is subjected to equal loads of shit, you tend to seek comfort in the company of fellow friends and try to make the best outta it. you talk about what you're gonna do after you ORD, you gossip about your OC being such a faggot, about the platoon sergeant who acts like a sissy, about the latest issue of FHM with the 2 hot twins on the cover page.
all of us share everything together.
it was during this phase of training that i injured my ankle. i was running through the bushes and i didn't notice there was a depression in front of me. come to think of it, it was actually a ledge/kerb that led to this hole/depression but unfortunately it was covered with grass. i felt nothing below my feet and before i knew it.... OUCH!!!
the pain shot up from my feet to my ankle. very quickly, my face was scrunched in pain and i gave a yelp. my fren ran over and my sergeant (he was an asshole, seriously) slowly walked over.
eh, you. can anot?
-_- obviously not.. so i slowly limped back to the medic post... ONLY TO FIND THAT THE MEDIC IS SITTING ON THE JEEP AND MAKING HIS ROUNDS AROUND THE TRAINING AREAS.
i just lied down on the bench, trying not to think about the pain in my feet, and one of the storeman came over with a plastic bag and some ice. i took out my foot from my boot and began to apply some ice on it. OUCH OUCH OUCH.
worse still.... they didn't arrange for me to go back to camp to see the doctor. as it was the last day already, i still have to follow them for the rest of the trainings and board the bus back to camp in the afternoon. so i'm limping around, carrying my field pack and all my load.
talk about care for soldiers.... fuck that. no choice, i think they training us to tahan pain. rofl.
i was given 2 days rest (coincidentally that was over the weekend) and next monday... i sprained the same leg again. -_- only its a minor sprain, as the terrain i was walking over was uneven.
so when it came to doing my final SOC test, of course i flunked that. i was practically limping for some parts of the running! and the sad thing was, during my 28km march, i sprained a 1x GOOD TIME DIP DIP bad sprain. i was about at the 20km when i slipped on the rocky terrain and thankfully i grabbed my fren's arm before i fell. but the damage was done. heh my PC still think i chao keng... i limped for another 2-3km to the next rest point before falling out....
so after the 28km march, we had our parade. to signify the end of our BSLC course. i was dealt with a bigger blow... (at this point i rmb, it was 14 Feb 09, Valentine's Day! how sadddd)
i got posted to ASLC. nvm. CHARLIE COMPANY. i'm so fucked. that's the worst company to be in of all. haha it wasn't that bad after all when i found that soe also got posted there too! same platoon too!! we laughed at one another. i mean, well.... make ourselves feel better?
i endured 2 weeks of training there before i was declared OOC (out of course). my ankle couldn't take all the walking and running. sooner or later i would have fractured it, no doubt. but i still got to go through the weapons training. =D at least i got some firing experience haha.
and so i was delegated to doing sai kang in the company. heh no problem, there was soe there too! thereafter, i got posted to Military Intelligence.
life there was totally different. it being not a combat environment, there was no requirement for me to stay-in. no bunks for me. hell, not even 5BX in the morning. the only company and friend i had for (in my branch) was Weihan. haha man if not for him i supposed i would have died of boredom inside. there were still other good people too, like Ram, Gere (my upper study who taught me nothing but "go breakfast at 9am!"), John, Freddy, Keith, Kuman, Justin.. and the new guys Linus, Kevin, En Rui, Bryon!
and i was required to use my brain. as in, seriously, use my brain. instead of leading my men into combat, i'm required to perform some tasks using computers and maps. can't really explain it here, but yes, its different from the combat environment.
totally not my cup of tea. i'm looking forward to more chiong-sua, more garang stuffs but..... you can't really complain. my frens said they would die to have my vocation. haha. well it has its perks. i get to book-out daily. OTOT canteen breaks. air-con environment (though thats not a perk to me at all).
well, that prolly sums up my one year in NS. one more year left for me. just hope that it goes smoothly. no more injuries. who knows, i MIGHT get posted out to somewhere else again, if need be. you never know....
once again, congratulations JASON SIR!

You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect - you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there." -Bob Marley

screamo SIOL rofl.
the army open house was pretty good, i got to see how the inside of a chinook looks like.
soe was a jackass all week; he got posted to a reservist camp which is just beside my camp. technically, if there're no ICT going on, he has nothing to do.
he's been booking out at 2.30pm all the time since he got posted there. that's solid evidence man.
anyways pretty soon i'm gonna be going to another camp for a week as i'm attached for some course. finally.
hopes dashed. dreams smashed. nothing really more painful than this.

-click on the picture to see clearer."he's the last of a dying breed. the prehistoric emo only emerges from the depths of his studio apartment when his favorite bands reunite for one last show- and even then, he shows no sign of enthusiasm whatsoever.
once an avid fan of the underground emo scene, he now cringes at the sight of today's batch of kids. he avoids mainstream media altogether, would rather listen to npr than podcasts and has no idea why anyone would panic at a disco. his favorite thrift stores are now raided by trend-hopping teens, making him resort to wearing the same vintage tees he has had for years.
he cries when he listens to pinkerton and spends days at a time organizing his vinyl collection. he refuses to join the kids on the current social networking sites as he finds them repulsive, yet seems to forget about the long since abandoned makeoutclub account he made years ago.
his casual-yet-somewhat dorky look has become the mainstream, and he is no longer identified as the emo king he once was. tear."
so, what's YOUR scene?

then pris last minute called me, saying she had something on with her family.... so i was thinking, well now what. but since i need to pass madeleine her present i tot, wth, i'll just go meet her and pass it to her then.
THEN cheryl fong come sms me because (i think) she being sergeant's pepper lonely hearts club band again. ghahahaha actually i guess only the 2 of us can understand that. she wanted to meet up with me to chill. so we set the time at 10pm.
i dragged soe along with me to clark quay to meet madeleine so after that we could hook up with cheryl and find a good place to chill and catch up. pass her the present (some brownies i baked), then we went to grab a bite. and out came our cameras, flashes away, snapping away at anything, everything.
after that cheryl came and meet us. and for the first time she saw madeleine gahhaha she's AMAZED to see madeleine GHAHAHAHA.
we hung out for a bit after that madeleine said she has to go off, and then the rest of us went chill out at some place.
the stupid girl.
with the "rollercoaster guy"
i dunno how the fuck she took this picture, but i was explaining to her my first rollercoaster ride and how it goes about!!!!

and our nation just celebrated her 44th birthday! gahahaha quite lucky i'm not deployed for any national day parade duty, just on standby mode only.
anyway! september is just a month away!
why?
come 13th sept, i'll officially be a one-year solider! pfft as if i care about being a one-year soldier.
MY ORD DATE WILL BE ANOTHER YEAR NEARER. MY PINK IC WILL, IN NO TIME, BE IN MY ARMS AGAIN, AND WE'LL LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!
yes yes i'm getting too over the top.
well so far work in camp is still the same, boring old plain shit, nothing like the kinda army life i'd imagined young as a kid, and gone through a few months back as a trainee.
when i was young, i was very fascinated by weapons, tanks and fighter jets. i thought it was always damn cool to be a soldier, you know, like creeping up on the enemy's position unknown and take him out with a silenced rifle.
btw, thats a jungle hat he's wearing. only those who deserved it, after months of tough training, were awarded it.i'll check out weapons online and their stats, how they work, and play first-person shooters. heh thats where games like Counterstrike and Call of Duty made their way into my com.
i'll watch movies like Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down and watch in awe as the soldiers work in teams/sections/group/platoons to breach enemy frontlines or perform a rescue operation.
as they rushed in under the cover of darkness, i wonder how it actually feels like wearing that uniform, with the vest bearing all your magazines, grenades, smoke grenades and whatnot, holding that silenced MP-5 submachine gun, threading slowly, with their night-vision goggles.
or waiting, waiting, waiting under the hot sun in the cover of your camouflage suit, just for that moment when your target steps out of the vehicle, and all you have to do is to pull that trigger and shoot him- from over 1km away. and if you missed that..... well... snipers don't miss their targets, do they? they're trained!
it always seemed so easy for them to run, jump around with their helmets on. they could run and run and dive for cover or crouch for a better firing position.
i always wanted to be one of them.
when i was in the army i thought to myself, GOODNESS WERE THOSE GUYS ON STEROIDS OR SOMETHING?! everything was tough man, waking up in the morning, going for the 2.4km run, running against the time in SOC. OMG SOC. that really got me thinking: THOSE GUYS ON TV CARRY PLASTIC GUNS AND GRENADES TO WAR, DON'T THEY.
my SOC wasn't good; in fact i flunk it. after running 700m down in your SBO (estimated load on body = 6-8kg? the helmet was the source of all problems; IT JUST WONT LET YOUR BRAIN THINK) the first obstacle was the low wall we had to leap and climb over. many a times when i reached it i sprinted for it and attempt to leap over it.......
... only to go *PIAK* straight into the wall.
i'm pretty sure i wasn't the only one! HAHA. btw the wall is about 1.8m? Yao Ming could easily climb over it man!
and in the movies you see those Special Forces, those Marines, those super-duper secretive special tactics forces they leap and jump around and sprint like nobody business.
their training must be damn good. err i mean acting. plus fake props. GAHAHAHA.
well but i can honestly say i enjoyed most of my training. though i was slow in learning fieldcraft (my sergeant in BSLC was an asshole though) even in Charlie ASLC i enjoyed the GPMG firing. although after that i caught a high fever -_-
i'm pretty thankful for the fact that i'm trained in most weapons an infantry soldier should know and operate. from the small arms (SAR 21) to the crazy-ass huge one (MATADOR- go google it up), i've tried it all.
the only thing i've kinda regret is not being able to be in an active infantry unit. well honestly speaking when i was in Charlie ASLC i was so sooo demoralised that i just wanna be posted somewhere non-combatant. but then now i look back and i thought, its just 14weeks of training in ASLC. just 14 weeks of hell and after that you'll be free.
sadly the ankle problem in BSLC re-surfaced in ASLC and i took the chance to get a long excuse and as a result i'm Out of Course in ASLC.
oh well you can't have the best of both worlds. i've got partially my freedom and the ultimate "slack and stay-out" vocation BUT i didn't get to realise my dream when i was a kid- to be a full-fledged soldier (no matter infantry, armour, artillery or other vocations).
yes i'm still combatant fit, i'm still liable for NS service but my current vocation doesn't involve any of the usual things you'll associate with a soldier: weapons, fieldcraft, heavy fullpack loads, camouflage cream.
basically i'm getting paid to go to the office and...... do my work.
of course i've tried to keng before in ASLC. hahahahaaha isn't every NSF supposed to do that?!
but as time goes by i realised my passion was IN the field. i'll find myself watching people march pass in their SBO/FBO and memories of my training periods will drift through my mind... how i envy them.
i'm a very very weird person right. HAHA. got such a good vocation yet "YOU SIAO AH! WANT GO OUTFIELD?! YOU 8-5 VOCATION SOMEMORE NO OUTFIELD YOU STILL COMPLAIN."
lol. i'm special. ^^

ANYWAY! my unit did a video on reciting the Singapore Pledge..... but sadly i doubt anyone of you can spot me in it =/

and i realised, my table is actually rather big..... =/
anyway! yesterday we went for a movie. me, miniwong, kelvin and jason. we were kinda like late and rushing for time.... so our plans for Public Enemies at 12 15am were dashed when we arrived at 12 20am. and the seats available were the first 3 rows.
NO WAY MAN. i've already tried watching Transformers 2 seated in the first row, and trust me, the whole experience would have been better if i were to have a better seat.
i'll be able to view Megan Fox running in her boots in the desert more comfortably.
bugger.
so instead of watching Public Enemies we caught The Hangover instead.

was rather good, it was damn funny at some parts. you guys should really catch it if you have the time!
anyway. i think its time for me to head to bed. not feeling very well today.

shows how no-life i have huh.
anyway! weihan is on course now... so the office has only 1 spec, 1 NSF, 1 young gun... which is me =(
all the arrows and shit's on me now.. gahahha. oh well.

I MADE OUT WITH 2 KOREAN CHICKS.
haaaa okay la lame. that ain't gonna happen.
but anyway, i hit the beach with kush, soe and his fren. forgot his name... think its. shaifu? nvm, that's not the point.
BEFORE we hit the beach... kush took us to suntec to help out his girlfriend with some stuffs... turns out his gf works at the gym as some promotional agent? like, try to get people to sign up with the gym. nothing wrong with that, they're not forceful like those bloodsuckers in MLM business. the people there are friendly and if you make your stand clearly that you don't feel like signing up with the gym, its okay. they'll issue you a GUESS PASS that allows you to use the gym for 7 days, free. and you get to bring a friend along.
True Fitness gym.
thing is, when i used to work at PwC, they have this tie-up with Planet Fitness where we could enter the gym and use their facilities... for only $3! or was it $5... nevertheless it was a steal; the gym would provide towels, both gymming and showering, and they have hot water showers and a sauna. of course, the equipment there are quite good.
i'm in the army now, of course i sign up FOR FUCK. lol. so we went there and hear what they had to say (they need to hit a quota, so we decided to just help out).
they gave me a free body physical test or some shit. i'm currently 166cm tall (i tot 167cm sia wth!), 48.4kg (THAT IS REALLY DEPRESSING), i have a fat mass of about 11.4% (the ideal mass of fat for me should be around 14-20%), i have a predicted muscle mass of about 22.1% (the ideal one is.. i forgot? but mine's definitely not that ideal... HEY I STILL HIT THE GYM UNLIKE YOU!)
so what i need is more resistance training (its actually training with dumbbells and weights?) and of course, eat more.
not bad..
anyway after the whole damn thing... we left first (soe, me and his fren) as kush went to find his gf for a while.. so we waited by his car at the basement..
and yeah. kush lost his way while trying to find the carpark. partly not his fault, the carpark was too damn big-ass huge. and he's pretty.. blur (thats like the nicest word i could use. can't possibly use DUMB right. oops.)
SO. finally we reached cafe del mar at like.... 6pm? that sucks right.
BUT. we got to chat with these 2 cute korean girls. one of them has these like bright big eyes THAT IS SO CUTEE I TELL YOU. too bad they're going back to seoul the next day. AWWWWWWWWW (-_- they wore shades in this picture.)

i almost killed myself for not bringing my digital camera along. plus my 2MP nokia phone camera simply doesn't do justice to the picture. yes i know I LOOK FUCKING SKINNY gahhhh.
and.. i just finished my 2nd weekend duty yesterday. sunday burnt, with the Duty Officer, in camp. sighhhhh.
