Funny thing about all these is that, i vaguely remembered on that Thursday, my mind sub-consciously drifted to the "SMRT girl".

I attribute this to one of mankind's traits: curiosity.

Sure, she wasn't a looker. Not a bombshell. Although admittedly, I must say she is cute. Really! And she dresses really nice too.

So throughout that Thursday at work, my mind drifted here and there, thinking of her. Not in a lovey-dovey way couples do, but on stuffs like, who is she? What sort of job was she doing? What is her name?

Is she single?! HA I kid.

Its that feeling that you met someone for the first time and you want to get to know him/her better.

Friday came. This Friday was a memorable one. Because I was struggling to stay awake while waiting for the connecting train at Marina Bay whilst scrolling my playlist trying to find a song that, well, keeps me awake. And out of nowhere, Melissa sprang out like a Jack-in-the-box and gave my shoulder a loud, hard slap.

AIYO!

Turned around and saw her grinning at me. But as my train had arrived, all I could managed was a HEY............. and waved goodbye to her behind my closing train doors. LOL. What the hell.

Anyhow, the train arrived at Marina Bay station. Walked to the Circle Line connecting platform.

And I waited.

And waited.

Train pulls in.

Stepped into the cabin. Took my seat.

And.... waited.

Honestly, really, I tried to look as inconspicuous as I could while trying to spot her. I admit, I was earnestly intending to meet her again.

Finally. She walked into the cabin from the previous one. I'd like to think that she didn't saw me looking at her..... She took a seat away from me, but in the same cabin.

I smiled to myself. Okay, at this point I may possibly look like a pervert smiling to myself but come on, it was a small smile!

The train pulled away from Marina Bay. I stole a small glance at her. Her view was blocked as another person was standing near her. I made a mental note to myself to go over when the train stops at Bayfront station.

Bayfront station was a good choice because most people would alight here, and at the same time it gave me a chance to walk over, rather than me walking over when the train is travelling.

Doors opened. People disembarked. In one sweet move (HA, who am I kidding), I stood up with my bag, walked towards her and plonked my butt down beside her seat.

"Hello!" In my mind I was thinking, please acknowledge me. LOL.

"HEY! Hello!"

"I didn't see you yesterday... Did you missed the train?"

"Oh ya! I missed the train! I took a later one... And I was late for work!"

As fate would have it, it was her last day of internship at her company. From then on, almost everyday I will be thinking, what if I did not see her on that Friday? What if I did not talk to her on that Friday?

What if I did not went up to her on Wednesday?

It does not matter now. :)

So that's how it all began, again. And the rest, as they say, is history

Sunday, September 15, 2013

Surprised by my sudden intrusion into her life, she replied with a simple, "Yeah....."

"Um.. Well I noticed that we both alighted at the same stop, so I supposed you work there too, so... yeah. Haha."

She smiled and nodded her head.

"You're quite observant!"

"Well........... I mean, its always either you or me alighting at this station so..... well you know!"

From there onwards, we hit it off. We both work at the same building. We both stay in the west.

"Well. I'll be taking this lift."

I nodded and motioned to the other one. "Mine's on the 5th floor, so I'll be taking this."

She smiled and nodded. "Okay."

"See you tomorrow then!"

"See you tomorrow!"

It was after a good 5 minutes that i realised, holy shit, I don't have a name, number nor a Facebook. I only knew how she looks like, and where she works.

The next day, as usual I took my train ride to work. Throughout my entire journey, I did not spot her at all. Nothing. No one at the usual cabin we ride to work everyday.

I was alone by myself.

And........ I have nothing that I knew of her.

I swore I could have stabbed myself that very morning.

how did i even met her?

i had to blog this down. in case one day, my memory of this beautiful meeting gives up on me.

PART 1.

It was an August Wednesday. I've been working for about slightly longer than 2 months at the point of time. The commute was very boring and uninteresting. Not to mention the overcrowding issue on the trains, the random train stalling and of course, Monday blues.

I can't exactly remember when I first saw her, but it had to be July. There she was, all alone sitting by herself in the cabin. Interestingly, she always sat in that particular cabin, but of course in random seats. Young, probably younger than me or around my age. Nice heels, I thought to myself. They don't look like the everyday heels you see other office ladies wear.

The next day came, the next week came and soon I found myself noticing her more and more. What's more, she always alights at the same stop as me. Nicoll Highway? Not many people alight here. To make things even more clearer, on most days it was just the 2 of us stepping out of the train together.

As time goes by, I finally realised why she chose that cabin, and why she always alights at that particular door(s). Because the escalator leading to the exit is the nearest from that door. Well. I should have known!

Day by day, I wondered to myself, does she work where I worked at? Some days, I won't see her. Some days, I will even spot her at the nearby hawker centre. Some days she will have earphones plugged in. Some days she will be typing furiously away on her smartphone. Some days.... she dresses really nice :)

So back to that August Wednesday. I saw her on the East-west line actually. So I gathered that she had to stay somewhere in the west area. When we were finally on the Circle Line cabin, she was just there, sitting by herself, stoning and looking straight ahead in front of her like any ordinary working adult.

She was wearing this red, or maroon dress. It looked really pretty on her, I have to be honest. That usual pair of heels again. It was brown, or was it red?

I have this fleeting idea. "Eric, go talk to her. You only have to open your mouth and say Hi."

Nah it won't work.

"For fuck's sake Eric, grow some balls and do something out of your uninteresting life before you die."

*Next stop, Nicoll Highway.*

I knew I have to do something. Of course, at this point of time I was genuinely curious about this girl, this lady, who I've been riding the train with for the past 2 months, always seeing her at the same cabin and alighting at the same stop.

The train came to a halt. She and I met at the same doors. The doors opened, and she strides out. I followed suit behind her. At the sametime, another lady behind us caught up with us. So there we were, 3 of us walking to the escalator.

She, the girl, stopped short of walking up the escalator. I waited behind her, while the lady behind us walked up, probably rushing off to work. Tapped out of the gantry. Walked towards the longer escalator.

"This is it. There's no one behind us. Walk up to her, stand beside her, turn your bloody head around and say, Hi."

Sometimes I wonder what really goes on in my head.

My legs began its motion. Walked up. Looked behind; there wasn't a single soul. This was too perfect! THIS IS A SIGN.

Stood beside her.

Turned around.

Smiled.

"Hi, do you work at The Concourse?"

its about 10 days to my FYP draft report submission. kinda scary, if you ask me. i mean, time files man. just a few days ago i thought i still had some free time to perhaps go slow on the report.

HOW WRONG.

simulation software ain't working for me, trouble trouble... ARGH.

its 12.15am and i don't really feel like writing much but, i gotta say when i think back on all these while, all these time, i think i might have matured abit. i know, it might be abit late considering i've been through 10 years of basic education, 3 years of tertiary education, 2 years of army and now another 3 years of tertiary education.

i just feel that, perhaps, i can keep my emotions in check better.

okay. if anyone is reading this. please help this poor boy to pray for a good job. pray that he can get one that he really likes.

not a girlfriend. :((

what happens when a friend bails out on your for your grad trip?

damn.

Sunday, October 28, 2012

hello everyone. how have you guys been?

been listening to this song for sometime now. its really good. meaningful too.

life has been pretty boring so far. other than school work, i have CCA tchoukball trainings, gym, FYP to do.. oh yeah a few days back i finally got to play soccer again! like, after 4-5 months.

Frankly speaking, I've never been a huge fan or really really like Tchoukball, but i guess its okay to try out something new. Football has always been my love and passion. Funny though, I don't bother keeping track of football news and stuffs. Whenever friends start to talk about the latest news or whatever bullshit I'll just space out.....

don't give a fuck anyways.. haha

Sorry people. No interesting stories, no pathetic encounters to share with you guys today.

my life is just stagnant now.

what is, or was, your biggest regret in college?

without hesitation, its definitely failing one of my core modules.

yup.

its not "not getting a girlfriend". its about getting a F grade.

up till now, i find myself not really fully over it. all my life, for all my major examinations, i have never ever failed any subject. to find myself failing one during college is...... well kinda unbelievable and shocking.

i was in hong kong when i saw my results.

i didn't really sleep well, but i tried to enjoy myself there as much as possible. thank goodness for 2 of my crazy friends who tried to cheer me up (offering to pay for a prostitute for me isn't really the best solution though).

that semester, i scored very well. in fact it was the only semester that i've scored that well. and everything came crashing down with a F grade. it was a core, not an elective that i can S/U.

i had to squeeze in that module in the following year. i had to attend extra classes and face the same professors again.

i had to prepare for an extra examination paper.

the GPA took a plunge, but fortunately, thanks to my other papers, it did not take a huge fall. my hopes of securing at least a 2nd upper honours was gone. now i'm on the borderline for a 2nd lower.

oh man.

well i can sort of comfort myself by saying i attempted 7 core modules in a single semester. juggling 7 papers was no easy feat. that semester was the worst one. i lost weight before the examination period.

honestly speaking i don't even know how i failed that damn module. funny how life turns out; i scored a B- for the toughest module and i failed the midterms for that one.

the professor probably hates me. but guess what: NO ONE LIKES HIM TOO.

:(

when will you ever learn.

its kinda funny sometimes, when you think you are quite old enough to understand certain things, or make certain decisions. then you get it right back in your face. tables are turned against you.

you get ridiculed.

not only misunderstood, but ridiculed.

no, don't shake your head and let it go with a smile, thinking, "Oh it happens.. shit happens. I'll just get over it. Gahh...."

no.

you need to learn. its not a shameful thing or embarrassing thing to learn from such situations.

its only through learning that you don't make the same mistake again.

ridiculed. again.

goodness.

makes me feel like such a huge loser.

and i tell myself, this shall not happen again. never.

OH, hello jolene!

before i forgot.
something to get off my mind.

why does my nose always get runny and i get a sneezing fit whenever there is an extreme change of temperature? especially in cold temperatures.

i really, really, really want a nose transplant.

:((

looks like I haven't been blogging in an extremely long time.

well. its the final year now. after 6 years of primary school education, 4 years of secondary school, 3 years old technical education at the polytechnic, 2 years of sweat during national service, and now, 3rd and final year in college.

wow.

its no secret; i'm 24 this year and its considered an "adult" age. guys my age are getting married in most parts of the world, without conscription no doubt.

its impossible for me to bask and hope for puppy love again where there's only movies, dinner and what to do for the next date to care about.

i've missed my chance.

deep down inside i feel some sort of regrets, sadness that its such a shame, what a waste, i did not have this experience that so many youngsters have. the innocence and the sheer joys of having a "girlfriend". in my time it meant that you have someone to hang out with after school and enjoy some mos burger at the heartland malls. (nowadays it just means that once her parents aren't home, you get to bang the hell outta her)

someone to text, yes, SMS, mushy lame love messages to. complete with all those crappy goodnight messages, with funny symbols representing bears, stars... yes those were my time. you get to hold hands and walk along the heartland malls. maybe weekends you'll venture into Bugis Junction?

while playing soccer in school she'll either be watching you at the sidelines or having her CCA, and you'll meet her in a sweaty state, she'll be so turned off but she still smiles. and you will, of course, choose to walk her home, probably taking a longer way.

oh well.

goodnights.

ps. those were what i observed from my friends while we were in secondary school. which is almost 8-10 years back. :) note OBSERVED FROM MY FRIENDS

what seemed like a good start doesn't turn out to be anything productive / desirable.

conversations staled.

awkward silences.

short, seemingly forced replies.

just going nowhere. its not that i'm not trying, or i'm doing it wrong but,

she's just not that into you.

nothing new, nothing new..

that new girl.

i can't quite put a finger to that. but. it gives me a warm fuzzy nice feeling.

its been a long, long time. yes it has.

i........ don't ask for much. i just hope everything turns out the way i wanted.

i just watched 《那些年,我们一起追的女孩》.

no doubt, it brought back a lot of secondary school days memories for me. haha. the entire movie really took me back to the good old days of trying (very hard) to impress girls. and doing really silly things. trying to act cool and all.

those days, we didn't really cared about our studies. all we wanted was to have fun, (try) to stay out of trouble, play soccer, and really above all, get that girl.

i know for a fact 3 of us have a soft spot for this girl. but everyone knew it was only me, not my 2 other frens. hahaha suckers!!

long story short, she got attached to another friend of mine. till now. lol.

that's not the point.

the point (well not anymore after 7 years lol!) is that fooling around in those 2 years, will always be some of the silliest and interesting milestones in my life. most days we'll be thinking in class on how to chase that girl and all.

it was so fun back then.

and now we've all grown up and have our own priorities.

but unlike the movie, we didn't remain best friends or whatsoever.

i think sometimes its just typical of me to bury myself in the stories like these, be it with a ending that most people want or a very sad ending. I'd imagined what and how it would feel to be in the guy's shoes. at least in that part of the universe, there's an alternate ending for me. alternate GOOD ending.

for that 2 hours, at least i can manage a geniune smile.

i just browsed through my old photos, both my university junior days and also my poly days..

my poly days, especially, holds more fond memories than my uni days. the 3 damn years with the same guys.... words just can't do justice to what and how i feel...

memories of the life we had in poly, the stupid things we did back then, fooling around, drinking and smoking our lives away...

haha. and now, we are all adults, some of us working, some of us studying, some of us both working and studying.

this is something money cannot buy back. no matter how rich you are.

------

my uni first year got off to a great, i mean, FUCKING GREAT start... joined the orientation camp. got to know so many fucking awesome people.

that girl, too. its something that i should just leave it as it is, the status we are now is just as fine. friends.

university is a huge change from poly. the pace of life is much faster. the people you meet are more varied (partly due to the fact that my tutorial group in poly remains unchanged for the whole damn 3 years and i did not join any CCAs).

i also reconnected with some primary school and secondary school friends there.

but most importantly it is my Enzo friends. they are my core group of niggas and homies and without them, life simply won't be the same again.

how i miss those 6 days of camp.... haha.

and what yihfang had said really makes sense. even though we don't meet up often, but when we do, we reconnect like old friends without any obvious awkward moments. its like, natural.

well but i do feel a tinge of regret. being a senior later on for Enzy, i felt that i didnt do much to help them bond during the camp. more specifically, i felt that i didnt do enough to make them feel that they had great fun in the camp. could be the lack of sleep, maybe. could be the lack of seniors and SAs.

on the other hand, i feel so good and relieved to see that they had bonded tremendously after the camp. (esp when they didnt jio us for their steamboat, knn!) but well its inevitable for cliques to form.

okay i guess i shall go sleep now. with a smile on my face :)

hi kim. if you're reading this. LOL!

recess week is coming; its just but a couple of days, probably a week later. its the time for us to take stock of our 1st half of the semester so far.

so far school has been forgiving for me. except for one particular module. i know i shldnt have flunk it, but well.. at least my GPA still maintains above 3.2.

the only reason why i usually come to blog is i've got something on my mind. hmmmm. abit confused. i know i shouldn't sink lower. like some bottomless abyss. its up to myself now to stop and think about my options.

but then again, its just as pointless as to think so much. i should focus on the more important priorities man.

on a side note. i realised i'm listening to class95's love songs. lolol how ironic

so i guess its kinda true what kelvin said:
whatever comes will come your way, fate inevitably plays a part, but its up to you to seize the chance. then again, even if you grab that chance, it might turn out to be something that you might not like at all.

school's starting soon!!

------------------------------

and its been almost a year. its alright, its alright, its all over.
